2021 COVID-19 Rules of Play
While we recognize the importance of the return to the game of baseball for these young players, we are committed to only doing so in a controlled manner for the safety the players, coaches, families and community. Requirements may change based on updated CDC regulations.
General Practice / Game Protocol
- In accordance with CDC regulations, no more than 50 persons are allowed at any game or practice, including coaches, players, umpires, and spectators.
- Daily symptom assessments must be completed by coaches and players (self-evaluation). Players and coaches must stay home if experiencing any symptoms.Coaches must ask players if they are experiencing any symptoms prior to all games and/or practices.
- Benches and bleachers are reserved for players & coaches only. Fans must be along the outfield foul lines or beyond the outfield fences/boundaries 6’ apart if outside a family group.Bleachers may be used by fans if players are not using them as an extended dugout.
- Coaches and players must wear face coverings at all times while not actively participating in the field of play if social distancing of 6 ft cannot be maintained.Coaches and players must bring their own face coverings.
- All participants must sanitize hands upon entering the game area.All players should bring their own sanitizer.
- Coaches and players must adhere to physical six-foot distancing except when actively participating on the field during the game.
- Coaches must wear face coverings when addressing players and/or parents in close proximity.
- No sharing water bottles or sports drinks. Team water coolers are not permitted.
- No spitting, seeds, chewing gum, or other food is allowed.
- No handshakes, high-fives, or other personal celebrations such as fist/elbow bumps, etc.
- Personal equipment should be properly separated from other players’ equipment during the game.
- Players are not permitted to share equipment including but not limited to helmets, catcher’s gear and gloves, unless properly sanitized between uses.
- Any shared equipment shall be sanitized after each use.
- Players and coaches should wash their hands with soap for at least 20 seconds or utilize hand sanitizer prior to, after, and during games as necessary.
- Each team’s scorekeeper should exchange line up cards electronically if possible - example: Take a photo of your lineup and send it via text to the opposing team’s scorekeeper.
- At the end of the game, players should line up on respective foul lines and raise their caps in place of shaking hands.
- Each team’s scorekeeper/coach should exchange line up cards electronically (text/ email).
- One umpire will be used and will call the game from behind the pitching mound. They will have the option of being behind the plate if a face covering is worn at all times.
- All teams need to pick up all garbage and other items around the dugout area after each game.
