Dear WBI Families,
On Thursday, May 14, 2020, the WBI
Board met to discuss the feasibility of our regular Spring/Summer baseball
season. Our board considered the feedback from the community through the survey
we distributed to registered families as well as the guidance being provided by
local, regional and state officials and organizations.
At this time,
with a heavy heart, the Westchester Baseball Board has decided to cancel the
2020 regular season.
None of us wanted this result, but it
became clear based on the feedback from the community and the fact that we are
not able to know for certain when the season could begin, we believe that this
is the most prudent step at this time.
These
are difficult times for everyone, including our board members. Based on the
feedback from our baseball family, WBI will be issuing refunds (less
non-recoverable transaction fees) to all registered families in the next few
weeks. There is nothing you need to do; you will see the refund as a credit to
the credit card used for registration. For
those families that made additional donations to WBI, we thank you for your
support. We have decided to refund those
donations as well, as we know that many families could use the extra money at
this time. For those families that used
a gift certificate, the certificate will be carried over and valid for the 2021
season, and you will be refunded any fees (less non-recoverable transaction
fees) for costs not covered by the certificate.
With that being said, WBI is moving
our focus to the possibility for a more robust fall baseball program if/when we
can safely begin playing baseball. We received positive feedback that baseball
later in the summer could be an option if/when we’re allowed to get back
together on the diamond. Should fall baseball become a reality, we will
communicate via email and social media with new registration dates for
interested players.
Similarly,
for players not involved in Little League (Pony, Colt, and Palomino), we will
continue to monitor the potential for late summer and fall seasons. Should that become a possibility, a separate
registration process would also be held for interested players.
We
appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. Please continue to use your Westchester
Baseball discount card and support our local businesses. Your support of WBI and our community is
greatly appreciated.
Should
you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].
Stay
safe and well. Baseball will be back!
Sincerely,
Westchester Baseball Board
